Medical designs that will reveal Istanbul's potential in health technology are produced in the 3D medical and industrial design laboratory "TETLab Idea Factory", established with the support of Istanbul Development Agency.
The laboratory, which is established by Istanbul Development Agency in Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, visited by the Secretary General of Istanbul Development Agency Özgül Özkan Yavuz and Istanbul University Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak. During the program accompanied by Demirören News Agency, Özgül Özkan Yavuz and Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak observed the work carried out in the center.
ISTKA Secretary General Özgül Özkan Yavuz said that Istanbul Development Agency have given special importance to the development of new technologies in health sector and domestic medical products. Yavuz stated that “We have supported this project to bring out useful medical designs in the health sector with high value added patentable products." She pointed out that in the new period they will encourage R&D and innovation studies in universities.
Rector of Istanbul University Dr. Mahmut Ak said that academicians, students and entrepreneurs working in different disciplines have the opportunity to design their ideas and transform them into products with physical and digital prototyping devices in the center. Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak stated that in 2.5 years, the application of 108 patents and 8 utility models has been completed and they will continue to work on R&D for value-added production.
Istanbul University Medical Faculty, which established "3D Medical and Industrial Design Laboratory" in 2015 with the support of Istanbul Development Agency, has acquired many patents that will increase Istanbul's global competitive power thanks to this laboratory. TetLAB Idea Factory was founded with the project of Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine under the Innovative and Creative Istanbul Financial Support Program of 2016.
At the TETLAB Idea Factory, workshops with design focus, patents, project writing trainings, venture and innovation accelerator works, 3D printer and 3D scanner workshop are being done. Up to now, 25 patent writing, project writing training, 3 workshops, 12 workshop workshops, 10 panels, nearly 50 seminars were held.
