The closure meeting of the "Polymer Technologies and Composite Application and Research Center" project established by Arel University with the support of Istanbul Development Agency was held. R&D studies will be carried out on polymers and composite materials used as raw materials and intermediates in many products, especially in the manufacturing sector and health field in the center.
The closure meeting of the ArelPOTKAM project was held at Arel University's Tepekent Campus. Rector of Istanbul Arel University Prof. Dr. İhsan Derman and Istanbul Development Agency Secretary General Özgül Özkan Yavuz also attended.
ISTKA Secretary General Özgül Özkan Yavuz stated that they supported every innovation in the field of economic and social development. Yavuz noting that the usage area of polymers and composite materials of advanced engineering materials is increasing day by day, and the project "R&D Center for Composite Materials and Polymer Technologies for Joint Application" was supported to improve research and development activities and high value added products “she said. Özgül Özkan Yavuz, "We need to invest in R&D in this area, I strongly believe that ArelPOTKAM will offer technological and economic opportunities for our country. We will follow these developments closely so that our industry can gain a more competitive structure."
Rector of Istanbul Arel University Prof. Dr. İhsan Derman also stated that the center has developed mechanisms to provide new products, technologies and new market formations. He thanked to the Istanbul Development Agency for their support. Participants were then examined at the center. During the 12-month project period, 127 firms and 569 exhibitors were given 274 hours of theoretical training in 19 different titles. Two participating companies applied for national R&D support programs and one was supported under TEYDEB.
"Stent production and clinical application of biocompatible and biodegradable nanocomposite materials for bile anastomosis in liver transplantation" project which was developed by ArelPOTKAM researcher team and applied to TÜBİTAK 1003 program was accepted. 21 SCI publications, 5 papers and 3 patent applications were also prepared in the scope of scientific activity in the center. Within a year, protocols and cooperation agreements were signed with various associations, organized industrial zones, universities and companies
